TORONTO, ON, March 19, 2025

Active Cause partnered with Ace Hotel and a coalition of multi-faith creative leaders to host a private Ramadan Iftar in Toronto, convening leaders from the creative, entertainment, civic, and political sectors for an evening centered on reflection, community, and shared responsibility.

The gathering was co-hosted alongside executives from Yahoo, United Talent Agency, and Ace Hotel, and brought together artists, executives, public officials, and cultural leaders for an intimate, off-the-record convening during the holy month of Ramadan.

Active Cause gatherings are designed to build long-term philanthropic infrastructure within the creative economy, connecting cultural leaders with structured social impact strategies.

An Intentional Space for Reflection and Connection

Ramadan is a period defined by reflection, generosity, and community. The Iftar was intentionally designed as a private, relationship-driven gathering that prioritizes presence, dialogue, and shared values over public programming or visibility.

Guests from across sectors gathered to break fast together and engage in candid conversation about leadership, culture, and the role of faith and community in shaping long-term social impact within Toronto’s creative and civic life.

“This Iftar was about creating space. We had leaders across faiths, sectors, and experiences come together with intention,” said Yonis Hassan, Co-Founder of Active Cause. “Moments like this remind us that community isn’t built through spectacle, but through shared time, mutual respect, and honest connection.”

A Cross-Sector Convening

Special guests included the Deputy Mayor of Toronto, alongside artists and cultural leaders such as Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, Hassan Phills, and Narcy, among others.

The evening reflected Toronto’s position as a global, multi-faith city — where culture, creativity, and civic leadership intersect.

Partnership with Ace Hotel

Hosted at Ace Hotel Toronto, the gathering underscored the hotel’s role as a cultural space for community-led moments that extend beyond hospitality. The partnership supported a setting grounded in warmth, openness, and respect. Values that are aligned with the spirit of Ramadan and Active Cause’s approach to convening.

Active Gatherings Approach

While not a public event, the Iftar reflected the principles behind Active Gatherings. Active Cause’s model for private, trust-based convenings that bring together members and aligned partners around shared values and long-term impact.

These gatherings are designed to foster durable relationships across culture, business, and public life, creating conditions for collaboration that extend beyond a single moment.
